If you’re anything like me, you love a rich, fudgy brownie. But you also can’t resist the sweet, fluffy goodness of a marshmallow. So why not bring them together into one irresistible, indulgent treat? That’s exactly how the Brallow was born—a delicious fusion of rich brownie and decadent marshmallow, inspired by Filipino baking traditions and a love for soft, melt-in-your-mouth textures. Inspired by Grandma’s Baking & a Love of Marshmallows
All starting in my childhood kitchen, where my Lola (grandma), Granny Rosa, was the heart of every family gathering. Her legendary brownies filled the air with the rich scent of chocolate, and the first bite of that gooey centre was pure comfort. But while I adored her brownies, I also had a deep love for chewy, melt-in-your-mouth marshmallows—a staple of many Filipino treats.
One day, in the middle of baking, I had a thought: What if we could combine the two? A brownie with the same deep, chocolatey richness but with a soft, fluffy marshmallow. And just like that, the Brallow was born!
But the name? That came from something even more special.
In the Philippines, desserts are about more than just sweetness—they’re about texture, comfort, and bringing people together. The name Brallow comes from a Filipino-English fusion of:
•“Braso” – Inspired by Brazo de Mercedes, one of our favourite Filipino desserts known for its light, marshmallow-like texture.
•“Malambot” – The Filipino word for soft and tender, just like the pillowy marshmallow in every bite.
So, the Brallow is more than just a brownie-marshmallow hybrid—it’s a bite of tradition, a nod to Filipino baking, and a celebration of everything we love about desserts.
A Treat the Whole Family Loves
At first, it was just a fun baking experiment. But after tweaking the recipe (and getting plenty of eager taste testers involved!), we perfected the ultimate brownie-marshmallow hybrid. The reaction? Everyone fell in love with them. They became a must-have at birthdays, cozy nights in, and those ‘just because’ moments when only something sweet will do.
Before long, friends and family were asking for Brallows by the batch, and we knew we had something special. So, we decided to share our creation with other brownie lovers, marshmallow fans, and dessert addicts across Surrey.
Since then, we’ve seen other companies copying our family favourite—and more recently even taking the name! But nothing compares to the original Brallow, made with the same love, care, and Filipino-British baking heritage that started it all.
